a few of my personal projects

SOMERSET RE-WILDING

I love shooting local stories, not only are they on your doorstep, but it keeps you within your home community.

At home in Somerset in the UK, I am documenting changes at a farm that is re-wilding, that has also re-introduced species including beavers into the rivers.

I plan to record the changes over the years and seasons, both filming and photographic stills. With these records eventually showing changes over time to the land, and waterways.

The meadows are so abundant in species and insect life, the bird song so good, it gives me a huge smile just being there, and an enormous creative energy boost.

I am building up a good library of sound, images and film, please feel free to get in touch if you would like support the project in anyway, including licence any media.

a wild life - COMMUNITIES LIVING A TRADITIONAL WAY OF LIFE - CONNECTED TO NATURE IN a world that is DISCONNECTing

We are in an age where maybe the majority of humans, through circumstance, are distant from nature, disconnected and dissociated. As humans are not necessarily seeing ourselves as equal or a part of nature. Apart from the loss that entails, humans are taking more than their share of nature’s resources, we are not alone in the eco-system, but often act like we are.

This is a relatively new place humans find themselves, and there is an acceleration of disconnect happening now, in the rapid adoption of a new age of ‘virtual’ space. This disconnection alongside humankind’s ability to plunder and globally distribute the Earth’s resources unsustainably, comes at huge cost to the eco-systems we are taking from. Maybe we should be more aware at where we have come from, and what we are doing now whilst we can?

For communities still living a more traditional life, the knowledge they hold, whilst relevant to their immediate survival in their environment, is vital for sustainable living. The curve ball is the acceleration of climate change that is giving these communities incredible challenges to overcome and adapt too.

I am working towards publishing a comprehensive, beautiful photography book, and to make some long-form films. I hope to partner up and work collaboratively with not just the communities, I’m excited to see what other partnerships can be made along the journey.

Too many of us have been taught the ‘old way’, is ‘backward’. Maybe we should decide for ourselves? To do so we really need to think about it, and to know for ourselves before dismissing and putting out this way of life.

Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to collaborate, help fund, or chat through this project.

I am always looking to connect with significant communities who live by hunting, herding, fishing, gathering, migrating.

THE TONY TRUST

Coming from a family keen on the outdoors, in 2010 when my uncle, who was dedicated to sharing the benefits of outward bound activities, died, The Tony Trust was set up in his name.

I work with 3 other trustees running the Trust to financially support and enable young people who can’t afford to go to a UK Outward Bound courses, be it as individuals or part of a school trip.

The Trust is completely run on the donations that we can bring in.

We love supporting the young people and hearing their stories on their return. Ideally everyone should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of Outward Bound.

If you think you can help us or would like to make an application more information can be found on our website: www.thetonytrust.org

We are a registered charity and pretty much every penny donated is spent on the ground.
